# GIC Q1 standalone profit jumps 10%, consolidated net drops 31%

General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) reported a 9.69% rise in standalone profit after tax to Rs 1,922 crore for the June quarter, up from Rs 1,752 crore a year ago. Gross premium income rose to Rs 13,475 crore from Rs 12,388 crore. However, consolidated profit fell 31% to Rs 1,621 crore, with NDTV Profit reporting a drop to Rs 1,744 crore. The company's total assets grew 5% to Rs 2.08 lakh crore. GIC's solvency ratio improved to 4.32x from 3.85x, indicating stronger ability to meet obligations. The combined ratio, a measure of underwriting profitability, fell to 104.88% from 106.94%, while the adjusted combined ratio edged up to 87.73%.
