Girl kidnapped while playing game, rescued in Varanasi

Mumbai: A teenage girl who was kidnapped from Goregaon East , while she thought she was doing tasks as part of an online game, has been safely rescued from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh by the Vanrai police.

Investigators said they are looking for an 18-year-old boy from Varanasi who is suspected to be involved in the kidnapping. The girl is being brought back to Mumbai to be reunited with her family on Wednesday.Police said the 14-year-old girl is a class IX student from a reputed school. She stayed home alone while both her parents worked. She got acquainted with the boy while playing an online game on her phone three months ago. According to the police. the boy gave her certain tasks to complete as part of the game. One of the tasks required her to turn up alone at a desolate location in Goregaon East last week. The girl did so and was allegedly kidnapped.When she did not return home, her parents approached the Vanrai police station and a kidnapping case was registered. Police started a technical investigation which included examining her phone records. tnn
