Shivkumar Tripathi was attacked from behind with a cleaver by Rahul Chaudhary, a villager, and collapsed. Villagers rushed him to hospital in an autorickshaw, but the accused and his brother allegedly intercepted the vehicle, dragged Tripathi 200 metres and killed him with swords. Police suspect the murder was revenge for the 2024 killing of Rahul's cousin Adesh Chaudhary, in which some of Tripathi's extended family members were accused. Three named accused and seven others have been detained.
