Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid tributes to late leader Rettamalai Srinivasan on his birth anniversary on Monday.
In a social media post, the Raj Bhavan referred to the Governor’s tributes to Rettamalai Srinivasan. “A pioneering social reformer, freedom fighter, fearless leader, and tireless crusader for social justice, he dedicated his life to the emancipation of Dalits and the elimination of social discrimination,” it said.
“His enduring legacy, marked by courage, unwavering commitment, and transformative contributions to the cause of dignity, justice, and equal rights for the marginalised continues to inspire generations to build a more just, inclusive, and egalitarian Bharat,” it said.
In his social media post, Mr. Stalin paid tributes and said his government would protect the rights that the late leader upheld. Mr. Stalin said ‘Dravidamani’ Rettamalai Srinivasan was an example of how if one got education, he/she could struggle against societal inequalities and win their rights.
He also recalled his government had inaugurated a statue and a manimandapam in the late leader’s honour in Chengalpattu district last year. In an official event, Minister M. Mathiventhan, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, and senior officials paid floral tributes to the late leader.

In another social media post, Mr. Stalin extended his birthday greetings to cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. “Happy birthday to msdhoni, a rare OG, who turned pressure into poetry with every move. You proved that greatness isn’t born, it’s built — one decision, one run, one quiet triumph at a time,” he said.
