# Govinda recalls entering Narmada after mother’s death in grief

Actor Govinda has revealed that he walked into the Narmada River after his mother Nirmala Devi’s death in 1996, believing he would meet her again. Speaking to ANI, he said he was in “tremendous pain” and felt “everything was over.” When asked if it was a suicide attempt, he replied “kind of” but added he does not view it that way. A sadhu named Ram Kundal helped him return. Govinda said his children gave him reason to live. He now sees films as “toys” and calls fulfilling his mother’s dreams his true achievement.
