The Aditya Birla Group will charge its listed and unlisted operating companies a royalty of 0.25% of standalone revenue for using the 'Aditya Birla' name, capped at Rs 225 crore per entity per year, from June 1, 2026. Grasim and Hindalco managing directors confirmed the move in investor calls, noting it ends a past practice where promoter entity Birla Group Holdings (BGH) charged no fee. Livemint calculates the fee could generate over Rs 1,000 crore annually for BGH. The Tata Group levies a similar 0.25% fee (cap Rs 200 crore), while the Adani Group and Reliance do not. The royalty became public after Novelis, Hindalco's US unit, disclosed it in filings.
