# Haiwan trailer out: Akshay, Saif clash in dark thriller 2026-08-25T11:18:44+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet The trailer of 'Haiwan', starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, has been released. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is a dark thriller built around a dangerous confrontation between the two lead characters. Akshay appears in a menacing avatar while Saif plays a blind man. The story follows a series of violent crimes targeting police officers and their families. As the killings mount, the police struggle to identify the attacker or his motive. The trailer hints at a revenge narrative without revealing the full conflict. The film is said to be a Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam hit 'Oppam', which starred Mohanlal. 'Haiwan' also features Boman Irani, Sayami Kher, and Shreya Pilgaonkar. It marks the first screen pairing of Akshay and Saif in 18 years, since 'Tashan' (2008). The film releases in theatres worldwide on 11 September 2026. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan last shared screen in 2008's 'Tashan', a film that underperformed at the box office. 'Haiwan' arrives at a time when both actors are seeking a commercial turnaround after a string of underwhelming releases. The original Malayalam film 'Oppam' was a critical and commercial success, earning Mohanlal a Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor. The Hindi adaptation will test whether a well-regarded regional hit can replicate its success in a different market. The film's release date of 11 September 2026 places it outside major holiday periods, so its opening weekend footfalls will be the first key indicator of audience interest. ## Coverage - aajtak.in Straightforward trailer announcement with plot details, no editorial framing or opinion.
