A half-burnt body of a person aged about 35 to 40 years was found at Jinanathapura near Shravanabelagola in Channarayapatna taluk of Hassan district in Karnataka on August 28. The person appeared to have been murdered and police suspect that the body was burnt to destroy evidence.
Around 11 a.m. on August 28, Shravanabelagola police received information about two bags abandoned on the roadside near Jinanathapura. The bags were tied to a stick. Local people informed the police about the bags after noticing a foul smell.
On opening the bags, police found burnt parts of a human body. Upon verifying, a medical officer said that the body must be that of a male aged about 35 to 40.
Based on the statement of Naveen Kumar, the Sub-inspector of Shravanabelagola, a case has been registered.
