The historical drama *Hamnet*, starring Oscar nominees Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, is now streaming on LIONSGATE PLAY. Directed by Chloé Zhao (*Nomadland*), the film adapts Maggie O’Farrell’s novel about William Shakespeare’s wife Agnes (Buckley) and their son Hamnet’s death. It had its world premiere at Telluride in August 2025, a limited US theatrical release on November 26, a wide release on December 5, and a UK release on January 9, 2026. The story focuses on family grief rather than Shakespeare’s career. Produced by Amblin Entertainment and others, the film features music by Max Richter.
