Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud claimed career-best figures of 6 for 55 to bowl Australia out for 198 on Day 1 of the first Test in Darwin. Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain took two wickets each as the hosts crumbled. At stumps, Bangladesh were 96 for 1, just 102 runs behind, with only Shadman Islam dismissed for 20 by Mitchell Starc. Mahmud recorded the best Test figures by a Bangladesh bowler against Australia. Taskin Ahmed also reached 300 international wickets during the innings.
