A judge kept his bail at $1 million and ordered a mental health evaluation. Police allege Basin threatened beachgoers after a noise complaint, suggested he had a gun and later produced a knife before throwing it into the ocean. A martial arts-trained bystander, Kama Homan, said he struck Basin after Basin became violent and swung a beach chair. Basin’s lawyer disputes the knife and firearm claims, saying circulating videos do not support them. Basin remains presumed innocent.
