The 27-minute test flight took place from Plattsburgh, New York, under a US Federal Aviation Administration experimental certificate. The 11.3-tonne aircraft reached about 1,100 feet and completed taxiing, take-off, climbing, manoeuvring and landing. The X1 is a flying laboratory, not a commercial aircraft. Heart Aerospace plans to use its data while developing the 30-seat ES-30 hybrid-electric regional aircraft. The company says the ES-30 could cut operating costs by about 40%.
