A depression formed over the Bay of Bengal is moving northwest, keeping the monsoon trough active over the state for the next few days. The eastern divisions of Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol are expected to see heavy to very heavy rains. Madhya Pradesh has received 524.8 mm (20.4 inches) of rain so far this season, about 2.5 inches less than the normal 23.5 inches. The eastern parts are 19% below normal while some western districts have recorded deficits of up to 47%.
