The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for eight districts and a thunderstorm alert for the remaining 25 districts of Telangana for Thursday (May 22, 2025).
According to the latest IMD bulletin, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, and Jangaon.
The remaining districts: Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhongir, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, and Rajanna Sircilla are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated places.
In Hyderabad, the weather for the next 24 hours is expected to remain generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with gusty winds are very likely to occur in parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 34°C and 22°C respectively, the IMD said.
