# Helpline 1930 saves Rs 162 crore from cyber fraud in 7 months

Mumbai's cyber financial fraud helpline 1930 blocked Rs 162 crore in stolen money between January and July this year, according to the Times of India. Since its launch in 2022, the helpline has saved a total of Rs 552 crore. In one case, a general manager at a private company transferred Rs 1.98 crore after a WhatsApp message from someone impersonating the company's director. The police managed to save Rs 1.8 crore, 92% of the amount, by acting quickly. The helpline received 2.7 lakh calls in the first seven months of 2024, with 53,000 calls in July alone. Officials say the system works best when victims report within the 'golden hour' after the fraud.
