# Hero MotoCorp to launch electric motorcycles from next year

Hero MotoCorp Ltd will launch its first electric motorcycles from next year, the management said during its Q1 earnings call. The company plans at least two models: an urban commuter codenamed Ubex and a high-performance bike, VXZ, developed with US-based Zero Motorcycles. The launches are timed ahead of Delhi's proposed ban on petrol two-wheelers from April 2028. Hero is the second legacy mass-market maker after Bajaj Auto to announce entry into the electric motorcycle segment, which is currently dominated by new-age firms such as Ola Electric and Ultraviolette.
