The state government has made arrangements to appoint eligible doctors who have completed postgraduation from PGI Chandigarh and AIIMS Delhi on merit, without a written exam or interview. In other developments, a statue of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh was unveiled at Sarahan. Sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar Dhiman died while on duty at Bharwain Chowk in Una. The ASI headquarters in Bilaspur has been shifted to Talai. In Shimla’s Lower Chakkar, about 56 grams of chitta (heroin) was seized and a woman was booked. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The government’s decision to bypass written exams and interviews for PG doctors from PGI and AIIMS could speed up specialist recruitment in state hospitals, where vacancies often delay care. The weather forecast of clear skies until 24 October gives relief to residents and tourists after recent rains. Meanwhile, the drug seizure in Shimla and the police officer’s death on duty point to continuing law-and-order challenges the administration must address. The next step is to watch how the merit-based doctor appointments are implemented and whether the dry weather pattern holds beyond 24 October. ## Coverage - amarujala.com Straight news bulletin listing multiple developments without slant This brief was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
