# IIT alumnus gets job offer from AI startup during Bengaluru flat hunt 2026-08-21T13:25:44+00:00 | Technology | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet A software engineer and IIT Kharagpur alumnus who previously worked at Microsoft has gone viral on X after recounting a flat-hunting experience in Bengaluru that led to an unexpected job offer. The user said he went to see an apartment but the tenant moving out was absent, so he toured another flat in the same building. That flat belonged to the founders of a legal AI startup, who offered him a job on the spot. The post, which the user called a 'peak Bengaluru moment', drew mixed reactions. Several users dismissed it as a fabricated story, with one calling it a 'nice cooked-up story' and another placing it among 'top 10 things that never happened'. Others requested the company name or asked for a direct connection. One user commented that legal startups in India would be 'f*cked by the government'. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The anecdote reflects the density of Bengaluru's startup ecosystem, where founders and engineers often share residential buildings in tech hubs like Koramangala or Whitefield. India has one of the world's largest AI talent pools, and venture capital funding for AI startups crossed Rs 20,000 crore in 2024, according to industry estimates. The user's IIT and Microsoft background fits the typical profile recruiters target for AI roles. Whether the story is true or not, it reinforces the city's reputation as a place where serendipitous career moves are plausible. The next signal to watch is if the startup or the engineer confirms the incident publicly. ## Coverage - livemint.com Straight news-agency style reporting on a viral social media post with no editorial slant This story was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
