# IMD forecasts thunderstorm; Hyderabad monsoon deficit at 10-12%

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has forecast thunderstorms, lightning and squalls till Saturday, August 8. The monsoon rainfall deficit in Hyderabad stands at 10-12%: Siasat reports a 12% deficit, while the Times of India says 10%. Telangana as a whole has received 379 mm against a normal of 402.1 mm, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS). Heavy rain lashed Nizamabad, Siddipet and other districts, with Konasamandar in Kammarpally mandal recording 97.5 mm. Hyderabad received up to 43 mm in Ghatkesar. The IMD expects the rains to bring down the deficit further and improve reservoir levels.
