# Kerala rains: 5 dead, 2 missing as CM orders hourly review

Heavy rain triggered landslides and flash floods in Kerala on Sunday, killing five people and leaving two missing. Chief Minister V D Satheesan ordered an hourly assessment of the situation and deployed a special Disaster Management Force team to Malappuram district, where two bodies were recovered and two people remain missing after a group was swept away in the Kottapuzha River. A woman from Chennai was killed in a landslide in Kottayam, and two more died in a mudslide in Idukki. The India Meteorological Department upgraded Kottayam and Idukki districts to orange alert, forecasting very heavy rain of 11-20 cm. A yellow alert is in place for five other districts.
