Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat together accounted for more than 53 per cent of the additions, with Gujarat leading at 4.43 GW. Utility-scale solar contributed 73.8 per cent of net new capacity in the quarter, though installations fell 17.7 per cent from the record first quarter. Overall capacity additions in H1 2026 reached 35.13 GW, up 54 per cent from 22.82 GW in H1 2025, with renewables making up 87.1 per cent of the total. IEEFA noted that coal additions declined 4.8 per cent quarter-on-quarter, while wind additions remained steady at 1.48 GW.
