# India, China agree to use diplomatic and military channels on LAC

India and China reviewed the Line of Actual Control situation at the 36th Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination meeting in New Delhi on Thursday. The External Affairs Ministry said both sides discussed boundary delimitation, border management and trans-border cooperation, and agreed to keep using diplomatic and military channels to address outstanding issues and prevent misunderstandings. India sought an early meeting of the expert mechanism on trans-border rivers and technical details of China’s upstream projects. The request relates to concerns over China’s proposed dam on the Yarlung Tsangpo, which becomes the Siang in Arunachal Pradesh and the Brahmaputra in Assam. The talks follow the October 2024 understanding on troop withdrawals from friction points and subsequent steps to restore ties.
