# INDIA bloc boycotts Speaker’s tea party; DMK attends

The Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Trinamool Congress boycotted the customary tea party hosted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla after the House was adjourned sine die on Thursday, PTI reports. The DMK, which is no longer part of the INDIA bloc, attended. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and defence minister Rajnath Singh were present. In the Rajya Sabha, opposition leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi attended a similar tea party hosted by Chairman CP Radhakrishnan. Union minister Kiren Rijiju said Lok Sabha productivity was only 19 per cent and Rajya Sabha 39 per cent. The stormy session was marked by repeated disruptions over the Delhi Police crackdown on NEET protesters and allegations of theft at the Ram Temple.
