# India crosses 300 GW non-fossil power capacity milestone

India’s non-fossil fuel-based installed power generation capacity crossed 300 GW as of July 31, the ministry of new and renewable energy said. Total installed capacity stands at about 552 GW, meaning non-fossil sources now account for over 54% of the mix. Solar leads with 164.59 GW, followed by wind at 58.14 GW, hydro at 57.24 GW, bio-power at 11.75 GW and nuclear at 8.78 GW. India added a record 55.29 GW of non-fossil capacity in 2025-26, including 44.6 GW of solar and 6 GW of wind. To meet the 2030 target of 500 GW, about 199.5 GW must still be added. The ministry said domestic solar module manufacturing capacity listed under ALMM has crossed 200 GW, aided by the PLI scheme.
