# India distances itself from Hasina’s remarks on Bangladesh

The Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday that India had no role in former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina's virtual press conference in New Delhi. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described it as a private media event and said the government does not endorse any remarks made, especially against the current Bangladesh government. Bangladesh's foreign ministry expressed outrage, calling it an 'affront to sovereignty'. Hasina, who fled Dhaka after the 2024 student-led uprising, said she is determined to return by December despite risk of arrest or death. Separately, Pakistan denied allegations by Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy that its ISI has influence in Bangladesh.
