India has officially identified 27 locations in Arunachal Pradesh on its political map, including passes, a lake, and a war memorial linked to the 1962 conflict. The update adds places like Thag La, Longju, and the Sher-e-Thapa Memorial, formalising names already on military maps. China reacted sharply on Sunday, calling the move 'self-deception' that could undermine improving bilateral ties. Beijing does not recognise Arunachal Pradesh as part of India and has issued its own lists of standardised Chinese names for the region since 2017. The Indian government says the exercise merely standardises existing Indian names and does not alter territorial boundaries.
