# India weathered Hormuz closure without fuel shortages, says Puri

Oil minister Hardeep Singh Puri said India faced no fuel shortages despite disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz after the Iran war. Speaking at a CII event on Friday, he said India diversified crude sources from 27 to 41 countries, expanded retail outlets from 52,000 to 1,07,000, and raised domestic LPG production. He claimed the US now supplies 67 per cent of India's LPG imports. Separately, ship-tracking data showed the first LNG tanker carrying a cargo for India exited the Strait since the conflict began, though most Persian Gulf exports remain halted. India used to get over half its LNG from Qatar and the UAE.
