# Canadian police arrest Indian-origin man for partner’s murder

Canadian police arrested Abdul Ghafoori, 32, at a Toronto airport on Friday, nearly seven months after his partner Himanshi Khurana, 30, was found murdered in a Toronto residence. Ghafoori faces a first-degree murder charge in a case police describe as intimate partner violence. Khurana was reported missing on the night of December 19, 2025, and her body was discovered the next morning. A Canada-wide warrant for Ghafoori's arrest had been issued, and Toronto Police's fugitive squad and homicide unit worked with international agencies to bring him back. Police did not disclose which country he had fled to. The Consulate General of India in Toronto expressed shock and has been assisting Khurana's family. Ghafoori was due to appear before a Toronto bail court on Saturday.
