# India’s direct tax collections jump 23% to Rs 8.11 lakh crore

India's net direct tax collections rose 23.09 per cent year-on-year to Rs 8.11 lakh crore as of August 10, 2026, the Income Tax Department said. Non-corporate tax led the growth, jumping 23.4 per cent to Rs 5.07 lakh crore. Corporate tax collections rose 19.8 per cent to Rs 2.70 lakh crore, while securities transaction tax surged to Rs 33,823 crore. Gross collections stood at Rs 9.55 lakh crore, up 19.75 per cent. Refunds increased 3.79 per cent to Rs 1.43 lakh crore. The additional net revenue over the same period last year is Rs 1.52 lakh crore.
