India vice-captain KL Rahul said the team ticked most boxes during the 165-run win over Sri Lanka in the first Test in Galle, boosting confidence for upcoming matches in spin-friendly conditions. Rahul praised Devdutt Padikkal's century as the defining moment of the match. He also revealed that India rushed for a result because heavy rain arrived five minutes after victory. Rahul said the team focused on discipline and capitalising on the new ball. He noted that batters who entered with a clear plan succeeded on the pitch. The second Test begins in Colombo on August 23.

## Indian Opinion Analysis

All three sources report the same facts from Rahul's press conference and broadcast interview. Rediff.com and Sports.ndtv.com both lead with the team's strategic confidence and Padikkal's century. Rediff.com adds Rahul's personal preparation story. The third source, also from Rediff, emphasises the rain-driven urgency behind India's aggressive finish. The coverage is uniform straight reporting with no discernible slant. The key implication for readers: India's victory in spin conditions addresses recent home struggles against spin, but the second Test will test whether the approach holds against a Sri Lankan side that pushed them for five days.
