India's registered investor base crossed 13.2 crore as of June 2026, and the median investor age has fallen from 38 to 33 years since March 2020, according to the National Stock Exchange's 'Market Ki Pulse' report. The share of investors below 30 rose to 37.9% from 23.5%, and this age group made up 59% of new registrations in the first quarter of FY27. The report said the investor base is growing beyond traditional hubs and becoming more gender-diverse. Women now make up about 25% of investors, with Maharashtra leading at 28.9%. States outside the top 10 increased their share to 26.9%, while North India holds the largest regional share at 36.8%.
