India's pharmaceutical exports rose 6.8% to $8.1 billion in the April-June quarter of FY27, driven by strong overseas demand for vaccines and bulk drugs, the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) said on Wednesday. Vaccine exports surged 35.68% to $390 million, the fastest growth segment, while bulk drugs and drug intermediates rose 13.84% to $1.36 billion. Drug formulations and biologicals, the largest category, grew 4.14% to $5.98 billion, accounting for nearly 74% of total pharma exports. The United States remained India's top country-level market with $2.5 billion in shipments, followed by Brazil, the UK, the Netherlands and France. NAFTA, Europe, Africa and Latin America together accounted for about 75% of exports. Pharmexcil chairman Namit Joshi said the sector combined scale in established markets with gains across wider geographies despite geopolitical turbulence.
