# Jadeja in Saurashtra Ranji squad, Unadkat to lead for opener 2026-10-09T09:48:43+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 3 independent outlets Saurashtra on 11 October will begin its Ranji Trophy 2026/27 campaign against Chhattisgarh at Rajkot’s Niranjan Shah Stadium, with pace bowler Jaydev Unadkat continuing as captain. The squad includes left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who recently featured in India’s 2-1 ODI series win over the West Indies. Fourteen players from last season’s group-stage squad have been retained. Jadeja’s selection is seen as building red-ball rhythm before India’s two-Test tour of New Zealand in November-December. The 92nd edition of the tournament places Saurashtra in Elite Group B alongside Andhra, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Hyderabad, Karnataka, Punjab, and Tripura. Two new faces, pacer Neel Pandya and all-rounder Arth Yadav, have been added. Left-arm spinner Dharmendrasinh Jadeja has moved to Chhattisgarh. ## Indian Opinion Analysis All three outlets report the same facts: Jadeja’s inclusion, Unadkat’s captaincy, the 14 retained players, and the October 11 opener against Chhattisgarh. The Hindu leads on Unadkat’s continued leadership and past titles, treating Jadeja as one of several squad inclusions. The Hans India and Telangana Today give Jadeja top billing, note his ODI series form, and link his selection to the New Zealand Test tour ahead. The difference is a front-page versus inside-squad framing. The shared point is the squad’s need to improve after a group-stage exit in 2025/26. The tournament begins on 11 October. ## Coverage Coverage: 3 sources, 3 neutral - thehindu.com (neutral report) Leads with captaincy continuity, Jadeja as one of several picks - thehansindia.com (neutral report) Leads with Jadeja, links his selection to Test tour preparation - telanganatoday.com (neutral report) Leads with Jadeja, identical text to Hans India on tour angle This brief was synthesised by AI from the 3 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
