NFL running backs are commanding top dollar again. Detroit Lions star Jahmyr Gibbs is now the league’s highest-paid back after signing a three-year, $67.5m extension with $51.5m guaranteed, averaging $22.5m a year. The 24-year-old rushed for 1,223 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. Atlanta Falcons’ Bijan Robinson is second with a three-year deal worth up to $75m. Indianapolis Colts’ Jonathan Taylor ($44m over two years), Philadelphia Eagles’ Saquon Barkley ($41.2m), and San Francisco 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey ($38m) round out the top five.
