Ajinkya Rahane has revealed that he saved Yashasvi Jaiswal from a four-match ban during the 2022 Duleep Trophy final. Rahane said Jaiswal was involved in repeated exchanges with an opponent and had received warnings from the umpire. As West Zone captain, Rahane sent Jaiswal to the dressing room to cool off. The match referee, Vengalil Narayanan Kutty, had already prepared a ban letter but tore it up after Rahane's intervention. Jaiswal went on to score 265 runs in the match and later made his India debut in 2023.
