# Jalaj Saxena equals Bishan Bedi record as Kerala beat Odisha by an innings 2026-10-21T15:19:05+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 3 independent outlets Kerala registered an innings and 36-run victory over Odisha in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match at Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. The hosts needed just 23.3 overs on the final morning to bowl Odisha out for 143 after the visitors had been asked to follow on. Jalaj Saxena took 5/34 in the second innings, his 35th five-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy, equalling the tally of Bishan Singh Bedi for the joint fifth-most five-fors in the tournament's history. Gourav Choudhury scored fifties in both innings for Odisha, but the team now sits at the bottom of Group C without a point. Kerala next face Bengal, while Odisha host Services in Bhubaneswar from 26 October. ## Indian Opinion Analysis All three outlets report the same match result and key figures, with near-identical score summaries. The Times of India alone adds the record-equalling milestone for Jalaj Saxena, quoting the player on his aspirations, which gives its coverage a celebratory tone. The Hindu and Odisha Bytes keep to a straight match-report format, with Odisha Bytes emphasising the home side's winless start and the shortcomings of its batters against spin. The balanced reading is straightforward: a dominant Kerala performance, headlined by Saxena's milestone, leaves Odisha winless after two rounds. The next concrete item is Odisha's home fixture against Services on 26 October. ## Coverage Coverage: 3 sources, 3 neutral - thehindu.com (neutral report) Straight match report with scorecard, no editorialising - odishabytes.com (neutral report) Match report focused on Odisha's batting failures, no opinion - timesofindia.indiatimes.com (neutral report) Adds Saxena's record milestone and player quotes, celebratory but factual This brief was synthesised by AI from the 3 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
