Thalapathy Vijay's farewell film, Jana Nayagan, will premiere on ZEE5 on August 21, the streaming platform announced on August 17. The H. Vinoth-directed action drama, which released in theatres on July 23 after multiple delays, has had a strong box office run despite negative reviews and an HD print leak. 123telugu.com reports the film is not a commercial success but remains the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. Cinemaexpress cites box office tracker Sacnilk, saying the film has grossed Rs 227.14 crore in India and Rs 320.34 crore worldwide. Onlykollywood.com reports the film crossed Rs 300 crore worldwide and earned over Rs 80 crore share in Tamil Nadu. The film received an A certificate, which kept younger audiences away from theatres. Jana Nayagan stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Priyamani. Music is by Anirudh. Vijay, who played the lead, won the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in April 2026 and became Chief Minister.
