Corroboration: 4 independent outlets

Janhvi Kapoor has revealed that her late mother Sridevi was initially unsure about her acting career but changed her mind after Kapoor underwent a nose job. In a conversation on Galatta Plus Tamil with her cousin, actor Maheswari, Kapoor recalled Sridevi’s reservations, with Maheswari quoting Sridevi as saying: 'Jaanu wants to be in films, but I’m not very keen because it’s a lot of hard work.' Joking about the moment, Kapoor said: 'Before I did my nose, she was unsure … After I did my nose, she's like, Yeah, there's potential.' Kapoor explained she believes in being transparent about cosmetic procedures, especially given her influence on young followers. She stressed that such decisions should be taken with proper guidance, as things could go wrong. The disclosure comes amid long-standing speculation about her appearance since her debut in Dhadak. Hindustan Times and India Today report that Sridevi died in February 2018 in Dubai due to accidental drowning. Update, 8 November 2026: Times Now confirms the same anecdote from Janhvi Kapoor’s interview on Galatta Plus Tamil and adds that her sister Khushi Kapoor has also admitted to undergoing cosmetic surgery. No new facts change the story.
