# Jayasurya joins Mayan Chapter 1 shoot in Kerala 2026-08-21T18:57:05+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Actor Jayasurya has joined the ongoing shoot of Mayan Chapter 1 in Peermade, Kottayam. The Kerala schedule of the mystery thriller is underway, while the film’s foreign schedule in Russia was completed earlier this month. Directed by Jithin K Jose, Mayan explores the lesser-known ritual of vipareetha aaraadhana and other obscure traditions associated with Kerala. Nyla Usha, Vijay Babu, Aiswarya Raj and Jibin Gopinath are also part of the cast. Jithin and filmmaker Raffi have co-written the screenplay. The film reunites Jithin with cinematographer Faisal Ali, music director Mujeeb Majeed and editor Praveen Prabhakar, who worked on Kalanakaval. Rajeev Govindan is producing the film under Magic Moon Productions. No release date has been announced. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The project is still in production, so its eventual release will depend on the remaining shoot, post-production and certification. A Kerala setting combined with a ritual-centred mystery gives the film a clear cultural and genre identity, but the source material does not indicate whether it will be released in cinemas or on a streaming platform. The next concrete signal will be completion of filming or an official release announcement. ## Coverage - cinemaexpress.com Straight production update without promotional or critical framing This story was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
