The FAA had imposed ground stops at nine airports on Thursday, including JFK, LaGuardia, Boston Logan, Reagan National and Dulles, and issued seven more on Friday affecting JFK, Newark, Reagan National and others. Thunderstorms were the main cause, alongside an equipment outage at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport that caused 28 cancellations and 413 delays there, FlightAware said. Delta Air Lines was the worst hit at Minneapolis, with 180 delayed flights.
