# Jharkhand activist Devendra Mahto seeks nod to return to protest site

JLKM leader Devendra Mahto has written to the Ranchi civil surgeon seeking permission to return to the protest site where students are agitating. Mahto was hospitalised on Monday after his health worsened during a march. In his letter, Mahto said thousands of students stand with him and described the protest as a responsibility and a source of hope, the Deccan Herald reports. NDTV adds that Mahto is the leader of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha. The civil surgeon’s decision will determine whether Mahto can rejoin the ongoing agitation.
