# Marandi slams barricades near CM residence amid student stir

Jharkhand government has blocked roads leading to Chief Minister Hemant Soren's residence with barricades within a 500-metre radius, causing severe traffic jams in Ranchi. The security tightening comes as student protests over alleged irregularities in recruitment exams entered their 20th day. LoP Babulal Marandi criticised the move, saying the public was being held hostage. He urged immediate removal of barricades. However, Traffic SP Rakesh Singh said barricades were opened at regular intervals keeping public convenience in mind. Student leader Piyush Kumar Singh said no plan to march to CM residence had been announced. Commuters questioned the barricading, some asking if Soren was afraid of his own people, the New Indian Express reported.
