# JioPC cloud computer for students starts at Rs 1,000 2026-10-12T18:21:12+00:00 | Technology | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Reliance Jio has expanded its JioPC cloud computing service, targeting students, schools, colleges and skill development centres. The subscription-based service lets users access a computer through the internet without buying new hardware. It works on an existing laptop, desktop or monitor connected to a Jio set-top box. JioPC runs computing tasks on cloud servers, so an older computer can access a separate environment through a browser. The service supports online classes, coding, research, design work and AI applications. It is available to non-Jio customers with an active subscription and internet connection. Plans start at Rs 1,000 for two months with 8GB RAM and 500GB storage, while the JioPC Ultra plan with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage costs Rs 1,200 for two months. Eligible JioHome customers can get a Rs 100 monthly voucher against their broadband bill. ## Indian Opinion Analysis JioPC lets schools and colleges with older hardware run demanding applications without replacing machines, which could lower the cost of digital education. The service depends heavily on internet speed and stability, so its usefulness will vary across regions. Jio's expansion into education cloud computing aims to reach households and institutions that cannot afford new PCs. The next step is whether schools and colleges adopt the subscription model at scale. ## Coverage - news9live.com Straight product announcement with no editorial slant.
