# One held after car jumps checkpoint in J&K’s Ramban

J&K police opened fire and arrested a local resident after a black Scorpio jumped a police checkpoint in Ramban district on Friday. The driver and his associates sped up when asked to stop in Chanderkote, prompting a constable to fire three warning rounds. The abandoned car was later found and the accused, Altaf Muhammad of Udhampur, was arrested. Police registered an FIR under sections 109 and 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for attempt to murder and assault on a public servant. Forensic evidence was collected. Separately, police conducted cordon and search operations in Jammu district's Chowki Choura area ahead of Independence Day. Village Defence Guard members helped search villages including Miyari and Amb. No suspicious person or material was found. Police urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
