Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. suffered a left ankle injury before the eighth race at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday and was taken to Saratoga Hospital for evaluation. The New York Racing Association confirmed he would miss the rest of the card. Ortiz was scheduled to ride And The Runner Is, which became fractious before the race. He was also pulled from White Abarrio in the $1 million Whitney Stakes and Rhetorical in the $750,000 Fourstardave Stakes. The exact extent of the injury was not immediately known.
