# Joe Biden’s cancer spreads further, son says very painful

Hunter Biden has told the BBC that his father's prostate cancer has metastasised beyond the bones and is causing severe pain. “It’s very painful and very debilitating,” he said on Newsnight. The former president, 83, disclosed the diagnosis in May 2025, just four months after leaving office. He has been undergoing radiation and hormone therapy. Despite the illness, Mr Biden made public appearances, including attending Barack Obama’s presidential library dedication in June. His memoir is due for release on November 17.
