Corroboration: 2 independent outlets

John Abraham has undergone his biggest physical transformation yet for the upcoming Rohit Shetty film Maria IPS, based on the life of decorated police officer Rakesh Maria. A source told Bollywood Hungama that the film spans nearly 40 years, and John bulked up for the younger roles and lost weight to play the character in his late 50s and 60s. The Times of India corroborates the report, calling it a never-before-seen avatar. The film began shooting in July 2025 at Ellora Studios near Mumbai, where a police station set was built. Additional scenes were shot at Western Railway premises in Churchgate, Lower Parel, and Mumbai Central stations.

## Indian Opinion Analysis

Both sources rely on the same Bollywood Hungama scoop and a Western Railway official, making coverage identical straight reporting with no discernible slant. The story is built around a physical transformation reveal and shooting location details. With no official word from the film's team or Rakesh Maria himself, the narrative remains promotional. Readers should wait for a trailer or release date to gauge the film's actual scope.
