# Karnataka minister Zameer Ahmed Khan declines Vijayanagar duty

Karnataka Housing Minister B. Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan has written to Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar seeking exemption from serving as district in-charge minister for Vijayanagar, citing lack of time. In his letter, Khan said he would be busy with preparations for local body elections including the Greater Bengaluru Authority polls, Assembly bypolls, and party organisation. He also asked to be relieved from hoisting the Tricolour at Vijayanagar on Independence Day, noting he had already submitted a drought assessment report for the district. The BJP has attacked the minister, calling his decision a disgrace to the Constitution and an insult to the national flag. Party leader Ashok said Khan was prioritising party politics over national pride. Deccan Herald reports Khan held the same Vijayanagar charge in the previous Siddaramaiah government as well.
