# Karnataka rolls out SAMASTA to cut health workers’ data load 75%

Karnataka has ordered a phased rollout of SAMASTA, a digital platform that replaces handwritten registers kept by ASHA workers and other community health staff. The platform reduces the 485 data elements in the ASHA diary to 134 key points, cutting repetitive entries. The government expects this to slash field workers' data-entry workload by about 75%. A pilot in Udupi district saw 95% of beneficiaries registered and over four lakh Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts linked. The app works both online and offline.
