The state currently ranks third nationally, with about 8-9 percent share of the CSR pool, as per the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission. Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, speaking at a CSR conclave, called the current spending "very low" and said a senior IAS officer will monitor a new policy to oversee expenditure. KDEM CEO Sanjeev Kumar Gupta said Karnataka spends 49 percent of its CSR funds on education, above the national average of 46 percent. Bengaluru Urban and Rural accounts for 65-70 percent of the state's CSR funds, with less than 10 percent going to other cities.
